OBD / OB2 Rotational Viscosity Sensors

Achieving accurate viscosity measurement

opti-color OBD sensors are vertically mounted and dip into ink and coating tanks. There is a central shaft that rotates with a specific disc / body under the surface of the liquid. The speed this rotates and pattern of rotation is analysed to give accurate viscoity information. The signal is generated by the resistance, so directly related to dynamic viscosity values. The controller will then operate a valve to add diluent.

The installation, made with a simple drilling in the main tank, guarantees flexibility, easy maintenance and cleaning, if necessary. A quiver is available for temporary storage of the sensor when tanks are being serviced.

The sensor shaft contains an output port for water, solvent or appropriate diluent that feeds directly into the sensing area for quick and accurate response. 0.1 sec accuracy is normal.

Key features include:

  • Rotating dip sensors for direct tank usage or with bypass installation
  • Easy to install, maintain and operate
  • High accuracy with motor in explosion-proof housing
  • Cleaning with optional stainless steel sensor quivers
